Our HP Indigo 3050 images its own special plate with every revolution at 4,000 times per hour. Due to this fact, the press has the ability to print variable data in form of both text and graphics. The example here is a two sided postcard printed in 4 color process two sides and four up on a 12" by 18" sheet. The graphics remain constant, but some areas of text change with every card. For example, the first sheet of four cards might be personalized for Amanda, Brenda, Cathy and Denise. The next sheet might be for Adam, Bob, Charles, and Dan. The source file was assembled in QuarkXPress on the Macintosh. Variable data channels were inserted by NSP using special xtension software for XPress. This software also linked an Excel file to the project whose fields consisted of First Name, Full Name, Company Name, Address, City, State, Zip, Postnet Code Number, and our company representative's name.The Yours Truly xtension allows us to preview each card, examine the flow of text wrap and ensure the accuracy of the personalization workflow. |
